About this course

Who it suits, and how it runs

The Certificate III in Hospitality prepares students for front-of-house work in cafes, restaurants, hotels, clubs and events. Students learn customer service, food and beverage service, coffee making, safe work and food safety practices, and how to coach others. It is a practical course and much of the learning happens on the floor.

One core unit, SITHIND008 Work effectively in hospitality service, requires a minimum of 36 complete service periods in a hospitality environment. This is why the course includes an in-person work placement: students complete their service periods in a working hospitality venue or their school's own facility, while Shafston provides the trainer, assessment and RTO oversight.

Who this course suits

✓ Students who enjoy practical, people-facing work and want a qualification they can use in casual employment straight away.

✓ Schools with an existing hospitality facility that want to offer a Certificate III rather than stopping at Certificate II.

✓ Students considering the tourism, events or hotel management pathway at university or TAFE.
